Teaching Competencies Assessment Approaches for Mathematics Teachers.

The purposes of this study were: (1) to contruct a list of assessment items; (2) to establish assessment models; and (3) to develop evaluation instruments so that there would be a direction for better mathematics teacher preparation. The research process included three steps: first, to review the literature on the characteristics of a competent Mathematics teachers basic skills; second, to develop assessment models and evaluation instrument; and third, to design teaching simulation situations on video to assess student teachers mathematics instruction performance. The simulation situation were evaluated from four dimensions, teaching skills, organization and presentation of materials, management of the learning environment, and teaching attitudes.
